「Stampede」（スタンピード）は、ドゥービー・ブラザーズが1975年に発表した5作目のアルバムです。
以前のアルバムでもサポート・メンバーとして参加していた元スティーリー・ダンのジェフ・バクスターが正式メンバーとして参加し、バンドはトリプル・ギター編成となり ライ・クーダー、ビル・ペイン、マリア・マルダー等がゲスト参加しています。
本作はBillboard 200で4位に達し、前作「What Were Once Vices Are Now Habits ｣（邦題：ドゥービー天国） （1974年）に続くトップ5入りを果たしました。
第1弾シングル「君の胸に抱かれたい」はBillboard Hot 100で11位に達し、「スウィート・マキシン」は全米40位、「ハングマン」は全米60位に達しました。
その後、グループ結成当時から中心メンバーであったトム・ジョンストンは、本作を最後に健康状態の悪化を理由に1977年にグループを脱退。
グループの中心は、スティーリー・ダンから移籍したマイケル・マクドナルドに移ります。
より洗練された都会的でソウルフルなナンバーを中心としたグループに生まれ変わりましたが、1982年にグループは解散しました。
その後、1989年にオリジナル・メンバーのトム・ジョンストン、パトリック・シモンズ、ジョン・ハートマンに加え、初期黄金期を支えたマイケル・ホサック、タイラン・ポーター、「ミニット・バイ・ミニット」のレコーディングやフェアウェル・ツアーでもグループを支えたボビー・ラカインドの6人編成で正式に再結成しています。その後、1979年からグループの解散までメンバーであった弦楽器等のマルチプレイヤー、ジョン・マクフィーも復帰し、トム・ジョンストン、パトリック・シモンズとのトリプル・ギター体制が確立しました。
今回、当ブログでは、ビル・ペインの秀逸なピアノが際立つ「Sweet Maxine」（スウィート・マキシン）とトム・ジョンストンのしみじみとしたバラード「Texas Lullaby」（テキサス・ララバイ ）を御紹介します。
